Repeat the process

If the performance targets are not achieved, the process should be repeated.  Prior to that, an analysis to understand why the performance ambitions were not achieved should be conducted so that the next performance management process cycle can succeed. 

•    In this case, a few areas should be investigated:

•    Were the performance targets too ambitious?
•    Did the solutions address the performance needs?
•    Why did the implementation not achieve the performance targets?

•    If the performance targets are achieved, the team can consider setting new targets to achieve further improvements.  This will then call for a repetition of the process.
