The data analytics capability describes current system performance and helps identify whether the performance objectives are met. It also helps track progress throughout the performance management process including identifying and quantifying possible performance improvements.
In a performance-based approach, the Data Analytics function is where a team assembles data and information which allows an organization to continuously monitor performance. Organizations that are just beginning to implement the use of data analytics should begin by simply tracking what is practical with the resources available and develop more detailed metrics and indicators as it becomes feasible.
KPIs can be categorized as Basic or Advanced in the link. There are 11 basic indicators that can be calculated using flight plan information. There are 12 advanced indicators predominately measuring vertical and horizontal flight efficiencies; these advanced indicators use a combination of data from flight planning, surveillance and traffic flow automation systems. The latter requires much more investment in data management systems.
